Only One Storm Per Tea Cup, Please

Gossiptea I think one of the most important things I've learned this week is to not welcome more trouble into your life when you already have enough.

Why open the flood gates? Why invite more storms into your teacup?

Why open the window and allow the negativity to flow in?

Sometimes you have enough to worry about.

Sometimes it's OK to just keep your head down and deal with the ususal tasks and bullshit without looking up and around, and seeing what else is going on.

Sometimes, just lifting your eyes up and trying to decipher what's going on around you is the same as opening your front door and inviting the Devil in for tea.

If you know the mob is outside your window with torches and pitchforks raised, why pull back the curtains for a peek?

You know that they're there. You can trust them to do what they do best.

It's hard to concentrate on the task at hand if you're busy looking around and behind you. Why stop what you're doing and try to figure out the exact details of how someone is going to attack you?

"Oh, sorry. I was just trying to see what type of knife you were going to use when you stabbed me in the back this round."

Why not just concentrate on running? On controlling your breathing. Pacing yourself and keeping your eyes glued on the road ahead.

Because while they're busy chasing after you. Following you with their eyes glued on your back - you're looking ahead. Avoiding potholes and ditches and forks in the road.

All you're worrying about is your feet pounding against the pavement, each stride propelling you forwards.

Eventually, they won't notice that sharp turn in the road. They'll be so exhausted from trying to keep up with you that they'll run out of energy. They'll be left in the dust.

And even then, don't stop to look back. Don't turn around to see what you've left behind. Just give yourself a moment's pause to look around. To see where you are and how far you've come.

Smell the roses.

But never stop.

Never, ever stop.
